Joe Russo’s Almost Dead kicked off their five-show winter tour last Wednesday, February 10th, playing to a sold out crowd at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. The site of PBS’s newest television show was bursting with energy for the exciting Grateful Dead tribute, as Russo and company opened with a bluesy “Alligator” and never stopped rocking!

The band features a slightly different lineup on this run, as founding bassist Dave Dreiwitz is currently in Colorado preparing for the three-night Ween reunion that begins tonight. Jon Shaw does an excellent job filling in, performing alongside Marco Benevento, Scott Metzger, Tom Hamilton and Russo. That 30+ minute “Scarlet > Fire” says it all!
