At first glance Equalizermag.com seems like a regular, legitimate online music news and review source, but it couldn’t be more of the opposite. It’s a relatively new website with the same satirical concept as The Onion News, only all the news is music-related. With headlines including, “Thom Yorke Does Not Deny Purchasing Bruno Mars Album On Amazon For $1.99″; “Tech Review: Native Instruments’ Glockenspiel”; and one that has gotten attention from people on Twitter, including the likes of Diplo, ” ‘Vinyl Purist’ Identified As Primary Suspect In Slaying Of 22-year-old Traktor DJ”.

The story seems crazy, yet possibly plausible, however a closer look reveals the farce. The site even has a fake Random Access Memories review by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. This is definitely only the beginning for Equalizermag.com. The music community seriously needed a sarcastic outlet such as this, as proved by the uproar over Diplo’s tweets mocking Daft Punk’s new album.
