Fans of the jam scene are some of the most rabid and intense followers in the music world. When it comes to jams, nothing makes us happier than when our favorite band goes beyond the structured section of a song into straight, improvisational territory, expanding the breadth of a song well beyond its typical limits. Along with the the Grateful Dead, bands such as the Allman Brothers Band, Phish, and The Disco Biscuits, amongst others, have all played their own roles in the “Evolution of Jam.”

On Friday, May 19, the Evolution of Jam Vol. 3 will host Uncle Ebenezer, Tractorbear, and the Allmost Brothers Band at Brooklyn’s The Hall at MP. The triple bill will make for a true exploration of jam music’s roots and direct lineage, with tributes to Phish, the Disco Biscuits, and the Allman Brothers Band. With a full set from each group, there will be a little something for every jam fan on this evening.

“Uncle Ebenezer: The Evolution of Phish” will take you on a chronological journey of 1.0 Phish starting with their early career and stretching through the 90’s. You can expect to hear songs from their studio efforts as well as music pre-dating their first record, Junta.

Tractorbear plans to perform their traditional set of Disco Biscuits magic, with a promised “bust-out” tune that the has only been played by the originators few times before. Tractorbear also has a very special announcement regarding the future of the band that they plan to reveal from the stage.

The Allmost Brothers Band will be performing a very special set of music honoring the legendary Beacon shows, dubbed “The Allmost Bros Band: Songs from the Beacon.” The Allman Bros’s Beacon tradition was a staple in the NYC jam band culture, and The Allmost Brothers will bring you right back to those amazing nights in March as they weave in and out of the classic tunes peppering in their own signatures and spontaneous “mash up” jams.
