When you really want to hang out with your favorite band after the show, but you have no credentials to get backstage, what do you do? Most would be content to call it a night, but one fan had a plan just crazy enough to work.
At a recent Peking Duk concert in Melbourne, Australia, one clever fan named David Spargo figured out just the right move to go backstage. By editing the band’s Wikipedia page, Spargo listed himself as family member of the band, and showed the page and his ID to a security guard.
The guard let him in and asked him to wait, and after a few minutes, the guys from the band came out and applauded Spargo for his ingenious move. Adam Hyde from the band said, “It was probably the most genius, mastermind move that I’ve ever witnessed… We ended up having a bunch of beers with him and he was an absolute legend. He wasn’t a creep or anything. He was like the most normal dude we’ve ever met. That’s what makes it more hilarious.”
Well played, Spargo. Well played.
