After taking the year off in 2023, Firefly Music Festival will not return in 2024 as planned, organizers announced on Thursday.

“We look forward to powering Firefly’s lights back on someday when the timing is right, but until then, The Woodlands will continue to host new music events for years to come,” Firefly Music Festival organizers said in a statement posted to social media. “Keep on dancing, fam.”

This disappointing news comes after Firefly was forced to scrap its 2020 gathering due to the pandemic, ultimately returning in 2021 with the dates shifted from its usual weekend in June to September. In 2022, Firefly stuck to the realigned September dates, and after the fest, organizers announced plans to take a hiatus in 2023 with plans to return in 2024.

As noted in the announcement, Firefly’s home at The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway in Dover, DE hosts a number of other events, including the upcoming Mondegreen festival, Phish‘s first festival since 2015, which is set for August 15th–18th, 2024.
