Electronic/future funk producer Flamingosis has shared his brand new single, “Cosmic Feeling”, and curates a frisbee-fueled journey to the cosmos in its animated music video.
The song samples Niteflyte’s 1979 classic “If You Want It” atop lush strings, synthy melodies, and a stank-face-inducing bass line. The track’s instrumentation comes from a variety of familiar faces like Jeff Franca (Thievery Corporation), Borahm Lee (Break Science/Pretty Lights Live Band), Hunter Roberts, and Mike Tallman. As all of the pieces blend together, listeners are transported to an otherworldly sonic aura that’s sure to please the soul.
Flamingosis himself notes “Cosmic Feeling” is “Supposed to represent the end of your day. The frisbee players, spirit flamingos, and cosmic soul singers in the video tell us that you can achieve great things in life, as long as you’re willing to work for it! It’s also a reminder that whether you had a good or a bad day, the sun always sets, and a new day will begin soon.”
The 1980s-inspired video for “Cosmic Feeling” pays homage to the producer’s father and uncle, who were world-renowned freestyle frisbee players back in the ’70s and ’80s. The animated video opens with two people driving under the sun and palm trees, with an appropriately-placed disco ball hanging from the mirror. As the day progresses, the two freestyle frisbee players let loose in the sunset, watching their shining disc and spirits ascend to the stars.
