Harley Streten is known professionally as Flume, the Australian electronic artist and producers who creates incredibly infectious remixes and original dance music. He singled out the EDM community with widely assumed stereotypes in a recent interview with Digital Spy.

At his performance during England’s Reading Music Festival, Flume harmlessly stated that the audience at Reading was the type of audience that he wanted to attract. He added the following:

“I try to keep out of the EDM world, I try to keep Flume far from the EDM world.”

That is certainly a strong statement for an electronic artist who came up through the EDM world. He elaborates further:

“Commercial EDM, the crowd is f**ked up kids basically. They don’t care about the music, they want to hear one or two songs and that’s it. I prefer to play to people who actually give a s**t about the music.”

For his final trick, Flume decides to completely inflate his ego with the following statement.

“There’s no festival that caters to my sound, kind of like Disclosure – they can do rock festivals and they can do dirty EDM festivals because there’s no real festival that has that.”
