If you’ve been following Goose, April might feel like it was a million years ago. The band has not stopped checking off milestones since the release of its latest album, Everything Must Go, headlining Jazz Fest and Madison Square Garden, both for the first time, within a span of two months—not to mention launching a signature ice cream flavor. One of the band’s peak moments of 2025 thus far, though, was a historic and secretive collision with jamtronica giants The Disco Biscuits—who have been on a years-long tear of their own—at a late-night show on April 24th, cleverly billed as Foie Gras & CrumpUntz. Those who missed out on this unforgettable collaboration are in luck, because the full-show video is now streaming on nugs, giving fans a chance to relive the magic [watch].
The surprise set took place just hours after Goose’s Jazz Fest debut and the midnight release of Everything Must Go, when Goose members Rick Mitarotonda, Peter Anspach, and Cotter Ellis hit the stage at New Orleans’ Joy Theater with The Disco Biscuits‘ Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner, forming a nocturnal supergroup as part of Live For Live Music‘s Fest by Nite late-night series. Together, they played a mix of tunes from their respective catalogs sprinkled with covers, opening with Biscuits fave “Helicopters” before jamming their way into Goose’s “Miracles” and “Creatures”.
The Beatles‘ “Tomorrow Never Knows” led the band back into “Helicopters”, completing the first of two extended sequences. Talking Heads‘ “Crosseyed and Painless” was the sole stand-alone, followed by “Slow Ready” > “Digital Buddha” > “Hungersite” > “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)”. Needless to say, it was a vibe. To close out the night, the quintet put the kettle on for a “Hot Tea” encore.
