Organizers of Record Store Day have announced that comedian/drummer Fred Armisen will serve as the ambassador for the 2021 event. Armisen will preside over two Record Store Day “Drops” dates, set to occur on June 12th and July 17th.
Armisen steps into the role filled by Brandi Carlile for last year’s RSD. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, her role in the annual celebration of all things vinyl was mainly allocated to an online position. Last year’s Record Store Day was the first to take on the “Drops” format and was spread out over August 29th, September 26th, and October 24th.

In the Fred Armisen Record Store Day announcement, organizers also hinted that an EP from the multi-talented funnyman will be among this year’s releases. Though no specifics were given about the project, RSD did share a logo for the release and revealed that it was produced by fellow drummer Ty Segall. Keep an eye on the Record Store Day website for information about this year’s “Drops.”
