The Funk Sessions returned to New Orleans’ Toulouse Theatre on Saturday, the second night of Jazz Fest, with a band of funk all-stars.

Guitarist Eric Krasno (Soulive) and drummer Stanton Moore (Galactic), who have been touring together in support of their recent Krasno/Moore Project album, Book of Queens, were joined by organist Wil Blades, while the Lettuce horns, Eric “Benny” Bloom (trumpet) and Ryan Zoidis (saxophone), brought the sound from an organ trio to a full five-piece funk machine. It being Jazz Fest, where the spirit of spontaneous collaboration is the modus operandi, the high-energy funk summit also featured surprise special guests Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet; Trey Anastasio Band) and members of The Horn Section.
