GIVERS, the Lafayette, LA-native indie-pop group, has announced an intimate performance at Toulouse Theatre on Thursday, April 23rd, ahead of the band’s appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival fairgrounds the following day [ticketing information].
The band first burst into the national conversation with its 2011 album In Light, which embraced a vision of life and love that radiated the optimism of unchallenged youth. They quickly became a fixture on the major festival circuit, including appearances at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, and earned slots on national TV shows like Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where GIVERS’ performance so struck Neil Young that he wrote about them in his autobiography, “It sounded like they were in a complete other zone from the rest of music. They blew my mind.”
Now each in their 30s, the band’s creative nucleus of Taylor Guarisco (vocals, guitar), Tif Lamson (vocals, percussion), and Josh LeBlanc (bass, guitar) proudly call the cultural kaleidoscope of New Orleans home. The GIVERS show at Toulouse Theatre on Thursday, April 23rd will celebrate 15 years of In Light and the many creative roads the band has traveled since.
