It was a busy weekend for Goose. Though the band’s set at Bonnaroo on Friday was canceled along with the rest of the festival, Goose managed to give fans in Indianapolis a four-song second set on Thursday before headlining All Good Now in Columbia, MD on Sunday—with guitarist Rick Mitarotonda joining Grahame Lesh & Friends to headline New York’s new Hudson River Music Festival on Saturday.

The whirlwind weekend for Goose started Thursday at the outdoor Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park in Indianapolis. Thursday marked the band’s seventh career visit to the Hoosier State capital in as many years and occurred one year to the day from Goose’s last show at Everwise Amp (formerly TCU Amphitheater), per ElGoose.net.

The seven-song first set saw the band breeze through “Rockdale”, “Hot Love & The Lazy Poet”, and “Turned Clouds” before digging in on the back-half beginning with “Draconian Meter Maid”. Multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach gave his clavinet keyboard a workout on a funky “Earthling or Alien?” that clocked in at 17 minutes for a highlight of the first set. Goose finished off the set one with a double dose of its new album, Everything Must Go, with “Give it Time” seguing out of “Earthling” and finally a huge 18-minute closing “Animal”, featuring a “SALT” tease from Rick.

Back for the second set, Goose ditched the first frame’s song-heavy approach. “Pancakes” sent the band off and running, with multi-part jams pushing the song over the 20-minute mark before the band’s first take on Peter Gabriel‘s “In Your Eyes” since September 14th, 2024, a gap of 61 shows per ElGoose.net. At almost 18 minutes, it’s the third-longest version on record, edged out by deep renditions from Philadelphia last summer and Seattle the spring before.

The show’s third and final Everything Must Go song came next with “How it Ends”, and though the reflective track closes the band’s new album, Goose still had one more big jam left in the set with “Tumble”. Coming back for the encore, Goose closed the show with a quick and clean “Arcadia”.
