Goose outdid itself this year with a two-night, game show/bingo-themed Goosemas celebration at North Charleston Coliseum & Performing Arts Center in North Charleston, SC. Hosted by ’70s game show-inspired emcee Lucky Lou, each night kicked off in epic fashion with the Chicago Bulls’ iconic hype song “Sirius” by The Alan Parsons Project and featured a setlist decided by random draws of bingo balls—a format first used by the band during its Bingo Tour in 2020.
Night one’s invigorating “Sirius” intro was followed by a mix of Goose favorites and songs from various side projects including “Yeti” by Great Blue—a band comprised of Goose’s Peter Anspach alongside drummer Nick Hanna, guitarist Ethan Michael, and bassist Seth Zucker—and “Turbulence & The Night Rays”, a song by Vasudo that has become a staple in Goose’s live sets. The first frame also saw the band’s merch manager Naveed Quarterman plunged into a dunk tank dressed as a king for the live debut of “The King”.

Set two began with a pair of Vasudo songs, “Hot Love & the Lazy Poet” and “Give It Time”, and included the Goose debut of “Kashmir” by Led Zeppelin, with Nico D’Elisa on vocals. After that, social media personality Bruce Robinson made a splash in the dunk tank ahead of “Into the Myst”.
The fun continued on night two with Goose’s debut of Paul Simon‘s “Slip Slidin’ Away” and a mid-set crowdsurfing sesh by Rick Mitarotonda and Peter, who rode inflatable flamingoes while the rest of the band played on. After returning to the stage, the band laid down a +14 minute jam and finished the set with Vasudo’s “Rockdale”.

Highlights of set two included a pair of debut covers, “Don’t Leave Me This Way” by Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes and “Get Down Tonight” by KC and the Sunshine Band, and the encore capped off Goosemas in epic fashion with “Dripfield”, an appearance by DJ Marb Menthols (a.k.a. bassist Trevor Weekz) on the turntables, a trifecta of Grateful Dead cover debuts (“Help on the Way” > “Slipknot!” > “Franklin’s Tower”), and a closing “The Empress Of Organos”.
