Goose crossed another threshold on Tuesday with the band’s first-ever late-night TV appearance for a performance of “Hungersite” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The TV spot arrives as the Connecticut quintet’s latest televised appearance, following a trio of songs on CBS Mornings during the band’s sold-out two-night run at Radio City Music hall in June.

It sounded like some fans made it into Tuesday’s taping, as familiar, “boo”-like calls of “Goooose” poured in from the audience as Jimmy Kimmel introduced the band. Kimmel even noted the group’s surging popularity prior to their performance: “There’s a lot of excitement around this band. I’ve heard from every one of my friends who does mushrooms this week.”

Taking one of the standout tracks from this year’s Dripfield, Goose displayed its versatility to a national audience as the band’s rich sound was further bolstered by the studio environment. Caked in the wash of pastel colors seen on the Dripfield cover, keyboardist Peter Anspach blended into the background in his red cardigan sweater as he swiveled from grand piano to B3 organ to build the song’s intensity. Guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, clad in his finest pink flamingo button-down, delivered a short but potent guitar solo that elicited cheers from the gyrating audience. Clocking in at just under four minutes, this rendition pales in comparison to the typical live experience but hopefully left television audiences hungry for more.
