Goose returned to Colorado for a two-night run at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood Village on Friday and Saturday nights, delivering two shows packed with deep jams, debuts, and surprise moments.

Night one opened with the road-tested “Drive” and featured a rare take on “Indian River” with its elusive Sanskrit verse, marking the first time the band had played it that way in nearly four years and 300 shows. The first set also included Goose’s first-ever cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Suzie Q”, while the second set dove into extended improvisation.

An unfinished “Tumble” set up a flowing sequence through “Factory Fiction”, Jim James’ “State Of The Art (A.E.I.O.U.)”, and a fast version of “Echo of a Rose”. From there, the band launched into a cover of Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer”, with drummer Cotter Ellis handling lead vocals from behind the kit. The band then weaved back into “Echo” and “Factory Fiction” to close the set before capping off night one with an “Arcadia” encore.

Night two picked up where the first left off, with another ambitious second set following a first frame that included “Your Direction”, the heartfelt “A Western Sun”, and a string of segues that moved from “Rockdale” into “Dustin Hoffman”, “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush (à la Stranger Things), and finally the tail end of “Into the Myst”, completing the unfinished version from 6/3/25 at Brooklyn Bowl Vegas.

Goose ventured into uncharted improvisational depths in set two with a dramatic pairing of “Big Modern!” > “fast:slow”, a wide-ranging “Creatures”, and a soulful take on Nina Simone’s “Sinnerman”. The set closed with the Goose debut of “Jed Stone”, a song from the proto-Goose project Vasudo, before the band returned for a triumphant “Empress of Organos” encore.

Together, the two nights marked a new high point for Goose’s summer tour, which continues this week with two nights at The Factory in Chesterfield, MO, followed by a stop in Indianapolis, IN en route to Bonnaroo and All Good Now.
