Following an appearance at BottleRock Music Festival in Napa, CA last weekend, Goose headed to San Francisco on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 27th and 28th to kick off its summer 2025 Everything Must Go headline tour in earnest. While the San Francisco stop was a two-night affair, Goose’s Rick MitarotondaPeter AnspachTrevor Weekz, and Cotter Ellis found various ways connect the two shows, splitting songs like Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s “Green River” and their own “Big Modern!” into segments spanning both setlists.

On Tuesday, May 27th, Goose eased in with a solid first set highlighted by an elongated “Borne” (clocking in at just under 19 minutes) and the aforementioned, unfinished “Green River”, which took the show to set break. “Big Modern!” got the ball rolling for a five-song second set with a 25-minute expedition that led into 19-minute takes on both “Creatures” and “This Old Sea”. Following an enveloping “Dripfield” set closer, the night came to a close with a sing-along cover of “Don’t Do It”, the classic tune originated by Marvin Gaye as “Baby Don’t You Do It” and later popularized by The Band.

Goose picked up where it left off on Wednesday in San Francisco with a first set featuring strong takes on “So Ready”, “Draconian Meter Maid”, “Mr. Action”, and Father John Misty’s “I’m Writing a Novel”, which in turn moved into a lengthy jam on 2024 Goose standout “SALT”. Following “Turned Clouds”, the band rounded out Wednesday’s first set at The Masonic with its second-ever rendition of “Torero”, debuted earlier this month at Goose’s inaugural destination festival in Mexico, Viva El Gonzo.

After opening its fourth and final San Francisco set with “Dr. Darkness” and a whopping, 23-minute “Dustin Hoffman”, Goose winked at the previous night’s setlist with a return to “Big Modern!” to complete Tuesday’s unfinished version. A standout “Wysteria Lane”/”Echo of a Rose” combo then set up the second floating “part two” of the night—the ending of Tuesday’s “Green River”—to round out the frame ahead of an impactful “Arcadia” encore”.
