Gov’t Mule celebrated Halloween weekend with a three-night run that kicked off on Thursday at College Street Music Hall in New Haven, CT, before bringing the Mule-O-Ween festivities to Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.

The band opened the weekend with a diverse setlist featuring covers ranging from Al Green‘s “I’m A Ram” to The Band‘s “Stage Fright”, closing the evening with “Fallen Down” and an instrumental “The Other One” jam in the encore slot.

Halloween night at D.C.’s Warner Theatre saw Gov’t Mule channel Aerosmith as its musical costume for the second set, which was dedicated to legendary Philadelphia rock radio host Pierre Robert, who passed away on Wednesday. Mule worked chronologically through Aerosmith’s catalog, opening with tracks from the band’s 1973 self-titled debut before moving into material from 1974’s Get Your Wings.

Dirty Honey vocalist Marc LaBelle joined in for the set’s second half, contributing vocals on “Back In The Saddle”, “Last Child”, “Sweet Emotion”, “Dream On”, and “Walk This Way”. The band closed the Aerosmith set with “Mama Kin” before encoring with blues standard “The Train Kept A-Rollin'”—a song covered by Aerosmith and last performed by Gov’t Mule in 2018.

The following night at Philadelphia’s Metropolitan Opera House, Gov’t Mule reprised the entire Aerosmith set in the second half of the show, this time welcoming Living Colour‘s Corey Glover on vocals for the same run of classics LaBelle had performed. The band again closed with “The Train Kept A-Rollin'” to cap both the weekend’s festivities and the final night of Gov’t Mule’s Back In The Saddle Tour.
