Gov’t Mule got some help from some very special guests during their second performance at Australia’s Byron Bay Bluesfest on Friday night. Most notably, the Warren Haynes-led Southern rock powerhouse was joined by legendary singer-songwriter Jackson Browne and former Megadeth guitarist Jeff Young for a rendition of the Allman Brothers Band’s Eat A Peach classic “Melissa”.

The Friday night show featured additional appearances by Lukas Nelson, Ivan Neville, and Promise of the Real percussionist Tato Melgar, who sat in for a cover of Neil Young‘s “Rockin in the Free World” (a tune that Nelson and Promise of the Real have played with Young on many occasions). Jeff Young also helped out on a rendition of Billy Cobham‘s “Stratus”. Thursday night’s set at the same festival saw Nelson and Melgar join Gov’t Mule for a take on Neil Young’s “Southern Man”.
