On Saturday, Gov’t Mule offered up a one-off two-set performance at London’s O2 Forum, which featured a guest appearance from blues guitar heavyweight Joe Bonamassa.
Warren Haynes and company opened up their first set with the traditional “Railroad Boy”, followed by Mule staples “Thorazine Shuffle”, “Million Miles From Yesterday”, “The Man I Want To Be”, “Game Face”, and “Revolution Come, Revolution Go”. Towards the end of their first frame, Gov’t Mule welcomed Bonamassa for a pairing of Bonamassa’s own “If Heartaches Were Nickles” followed by Jeff Beck‘s “Freeway Jam”. Haynes and Bonamassa traded off ferocious blues guitar licks as the band brought their first set to a halt.
Following a brief setbreak, Mule returned to open their second set with “Thorns Of Life”, which was followed up by “Mule”, “Time To Confess”, “Soulshine”, “Trane”, “Beautifully Broken”, “Bad Little Doggie”, and a set-closing take on “Mr. Man”. The band delivered a lone encore of “Endless Parade” to close out their London performance.
Following the show, Joe Bonamassa shared his thoughts via Instagram. He explained,
I’ve known Warren for almost 25 years. I am honored to call him a friend but still just in awe of his playing and singing. The whole band is stunning Mat, Danny and Jorgen. Thanks for having me out it was an honor.
