Gramatik seems to be gearing up to release a new EP or full-length album in the future based on the string of recently released singles from the DJ and producer. On the heels of “As We Proceed,” a collaboration with GRiZ for their joint project GRiZMATIK that was released earlier in the year, Gramatik today has released another new song, “Recovery.” This latest number from the producer is similarly collaborative, this time tapping none other than Soulive and Lettuce guitarist Eric Krasno for the track. While Krasno is frequently understood as one of the greater guitarists on the scene, on Gramatik’s “Recovery,” the guitarist lends his voice to the track, perhaps pointing to his increasing comfort with taking on lead vocals after he made his singing debut on his recently released and first solo album Blood From A Stone.

Premiered on Billboard today, Gramatik’s new collaboration with Eric Krasno opens with cinematic keys and orchestral flourishes before dropping into the true bulk of the song. From there, Krasno’s wistful vocals coast over the psychedelic base featuring the addition of swirling guitar and bass and a futuristic and echoing beat. The song continues to build layers unto itself, with Krasno’s initially lone voice amplified by additional parts and the song’s underlay gaining more concise parts throughout the song. To close it out, as is only appropriate for a song featuring Eric Krasno, a heavily distorted and soaring guitar part takes over before the song comes to its abrupt end.
