The Grateful Dead will take fans back to the band’s July 7th, 1989 performance at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, PA for this week’s installment of the Shakedown Stream archive video webcast series.
Following the past few webcasts, which have included pre-show interviews with former tour manager Sam Cutler and publicist/biographer Dennis McNally, this week’s guest taking part in the Q&A with hosts David Lemieux and Gary Lambert will be Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge.
The Dead’s performance on 7/7/89 is considered by many to be a highlight show in the latter era of the band’s 30-year run and was officially released as Crimson, White & Indigo in 2010. The band had previously shared the pro-shot footage of “Iko Iko” from the 7/7/89 concert as part of their “All The Years Live” weekly YouTube video series.
As David Lemieux previously stated about the 1989 JFK Stadium show,
One of the largest crowds to see the Grateful Dead perform live in the 1980s and 1990s, at the last-ever concert at Philadelphia’s JFK Stadium, the July 7, 1989 audience was treated with one of the best shows of 1989, a year that’s widely considered one of the most consistently great of the Dead’s 30 year touring history.
Scroll down to watch this week’s Shakedown Stream pre-show and full-concert webcast on Friday (June 5th) beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
