The Grateful Dead will take fans back to the band’s May 1th, 1991 performance at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountainview, CA for this week’s installment of the Shakedown Stream archive video webcast series.
Following the past few webcasts which have included pre-show interviews with former tour manager Sam Cutler, publicist/biographer Dennis McNally, and Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge, this week’s featured guest will be that of the Dead’s latter-era touring pianist Bruce Hornsby, who played with the band in the ’90s and was also on hand to take part in the Fare Thee Well performances in 2015.
As with each of the weekly webcasts, Friday’s show will broadcast to the band’s YouTube for free and viewers are encouraged to donate what they can to benefit a non-profit organization of the band’s choice. This week’s donation beneficiary will be the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, whose mission is to build structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans.
Scroll down to watch this week’s Shakedown Stream pre-show and full-concert webcast on Friday (June 11th) beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
