Grateful Dead To Release Massive 12-Disc ‘Fare Thee Well’ Box Set

The Grateful Dead have been planning to release several box sets surrounding the legendary “Fare Thee Well” 50th anniversary shows, but, until now, no one knew which songs would be selected for the compilation discs. It seems there will be many options for FTW box sets available, ranging from a 3-CD/2 Blu-ray, 3/CD-DVD, 2 Blu-Ray or 2-DVD set highlighting the final performance, to a 12-CD/Blu-ray or 12-CD-DVD combo with audio from all three of the Soldier Field nights.

The Grateful Dead bid their fans a fond “Fare Thee Well” over July 4th weekend, performing at the Chicago stadium on July 3rd, 4th and 5th. They also played two nights the weekend prior, June 27th and 28th, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.

The 12-CD set is an Dead.net exclusive release, and only 20,000 copies will circulate. Both will contain high quality audio and video, with footage directed by Bill Kreutzmann’s son Jason.
