Greensky Bluegrass rang in 2019 on Monday night with their fourth and final performance at Chicago’s The Riviera Theatre.

The first set of the evening saw Greensky welcome a number of rhythmic guests, as Guido Batista and Lucas White both joined in on woodblock for “Fixin’ To Ruin” and Keith Kinnear added some vibraslap to the set-closing “What You Need”.

In addition to a mix of fan-favorite songs old and new, Greensky Bluegrass continued to introduce the material from their forthcoming album as they did throughout the run. This time, the band offered the live debut of the album’s title track, “All For Money“, to close the second set.

Set three saw the band mix in a slew of covers as they welcomed the midnight hour, beginning with the Allman Brothers Band‘s “Midnight Rider”. After riding their own “Kerosene” into “Auld Lang Syne” as the clock struck midnight, the band continued into “Ain’t No Bread in the Breadbox”, which in turn found its way back to “Kerosene”. The always-amusing “For Sure Uh Huh” came next, followed by “Who Is Frederico?” After runs through “Whitehouse Blues” and “Past My Prime”, Greensky Bluegrass capped their final set of the run with a “Tarpology” sandwich featuring Van Morrison‘s “Into The Mystic” as the musical meat.

After beginning their encore with “Drink Up and Go Home”, the band finally ended with a reprise of the “Quinn The Eskimo”-infused “Broke Mountain Breakdown” the band played on 12/29. Well, they actually ended with 5 reprises of “Broke Mountain Breakdown”, Anders Beck saying goodbye to the crowd in various ways as the band amusingly repeated the Breakdown again and again.
