Fresh off a post-Thanksgiving run in their hometown of Kalamazoo, MI, the beloved Greensky Bluegrass headed West to the colorful state of Colorado for the first of three nights at Denver’s Ogden Theatre. The anticipation was at an all-time high for Greensky, who sold out all three shows in advance. The band more than lived up to expectations, putting together two fun-filled sets of music for the local crowd.
The shows mainly focused on the band’s originals, and even included a sit in from Silas Herman during “Working On A Building” and “Burn Them” to close out the first set. One of the biggest highlights of the night came during the second set, when the band broke into “Can’t Stop Now” and segued it into a soulful version of Tom Petty’s “Breakdown”, before returning to “Can’t Stop Now” to complete the jam sandwich. There was also a big cover of Dire Straits’ “Money For Nothing” at the end of show, right before the reprise of “Can’t Make Time” to open the encore. The song was originally played in the second set, but Paul Hoffman forgot the lyrics, so the band jokingly brought him a lyric sheet for the reprise version in the encore.
