The road goes on forever and on Thursday the legacy of the Allman Brothers Band found its way to Raleigh, NC where Greensky Bluegrass covered “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More” with ABB heir Duane Betts.

In the winddown of the second set, Greensky brought out the son of Allmans guitarist Dickey Betts, who served as the evening’s opening act at The Ritz. Mandolinist Paul Hoffman handled vocals for the Eat A Peach classic which is good for a few performances every year with Greensky. The band made its guest feel welcome, carving out a sonic space for Duane’s tasteful leads and setting up a nice back and forth between Betts and dobro player Anders Beck. The musicians’ connection was tangible, with Hoffman remarking as Duane left the stage, “That just felt so right.”

Betts and his band Palmetto Motel wrapped up their shift opening for Greensky following a Saturday show in Atlanta. Next month, Greensky Bluegrass will head back out on the road with Melt as support, as well as opening sets by Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, The High Hawks, and Molly Tuttle on select dates.
