Greensky Bluegrass paid a visit to Seattle on Thursday, stopping by The Showbox at Market where the five-piece welcomed local saxophonist Skerik to sit in on a trio of tunes.

Dave Bruzza, Paul Hoffman, Michael Bont, Anders Beck, and Mike Devol opened the show with a cover of “Crosstown Traffic” by Seattle’s own Jimi Hendrix. Next came the traditional “Hit Parade of Love”, followed by “Forget Everything”, the first original of the night. A sequence of two more originals, “Worry for You” and “Don’t Lie”, then gave way to “Prom Night” and “Get Sad”, a track from the band’s most recent album, Stress Dreams.

Then, after runs through “Courage For The Road” and “Past My Prime”, Greensky Bluegrass welcomed Skerik to the stage to sit in on “I’d Probably Kill You”. The enigmatic saxophonist remained on stage for “One Way Out” and “What You Need” before leaving it to the band to round out the set with “Murder of Crows”, “Catch Me A Jesus”, and “Leap Year”. For the encore, the quintet chose “Small Axe”.
