Greensky Bluegrass made its way to the lush turf of Westville Music Bowl for a two-night run over the weekend. The pair of shows at the New Haven, CT venue came as the lastest in the jamgrass outfit’s socially distanced spring tour.

Among the highlights of the run was Greensky Bluegrass’ anticipatory celebration of Bob Dylan‘s birthday on Monday, May 24th with covers of “Señor” on Friday and “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” on Saturday. The latter came as the encore and also featured Lyle Brewer on electric guitar, who sat in on “Lose My Way” and “Dustbowl Overtures” during the second set. Both Dylan songs came as significant bust-outs, with this first “Señor” since 7/19/19 (82 shows) and the first “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” since 9/25/19 (62 shows). Another welcome bust out arrived on Friday with the first take on Phish‘s “Julius” since 12/28/18 (132 shows).

With Greensky Bluegrass’ calendar finally filling up again after a prolonged period of inactivity, the band was able to dig deeper into its catalog. The weekend run saw numerous songs get their first post-COVID performances including “Less Than Supper”, “Middle Mountain Towns”, “Luckiest Man”, “Just Listening”, and “Cryin’ Holy Unto The Lord (Rock Where Moses Stood)” on Friday and “The Chain”, “Demons”, and “Freeborn Man” on Saturday.
