Yesterday, Cloud 9 Adventures‘ annual Strings & Sol Mexican bluegrass destination event kicked off with performances from Greensky Bluegrass and Yonder Mountain String Band, in addition to a late-night Mimi‘s On The Beach set at the Palapa. Greensky got the 2017 festivities underway with an appropriately beach-y, carefree set that featured, among other things, a take on “Broke Mountain Breakdown” that used the song’s ever-changing narrative to incorporate 1993 global dance phenomenon “The Macarena”, dance moves and all. Watch a short clip of Greensky’s “Macarena” below via Instagram user @smashleywhite:

Greensky also surprised their Mexico “Campers” with a cover of Widespread Panic‘s “Bust It Big”. Recently, a member of the band’s Facebook fan group, Camp Greensky, had posed the question of whether or not the band had ever covered a WSP tune, and with the “Bust It Big” cover, it appears the band took note and cleared up that question. You can watch footage of Greensky’s Strings & Sol rendition of “Bust It Big” below, via the Strings & Sol Facebook page (begins 5 minutes in):

Strings & Sol continues today with a poolside Greensky set in the afternoon, followed by a sunset show from The Infamous Stringdusters, full performances from Leftover Salmon and Railroad Earth, and a late night Roc Watson set featuring Bryan Sutton & Friends. For a full schedule, hit the Strings & Sol website.
