Named after his first solo LP from 1973, Gregg Allman‘s second annual Laid Back Festival is expanding to five different cities this year. The lineups are to-be-announced, but last year’s inaugural fest included the Doobie Brothers, Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band and City of the Sun, and more. We have faith that anything Gregg Allman’s Band does is going to be great.

The travelling festival kicks off May 7th in Atlanta’s Lakewood Amphitheatre, close to home for Allman, then circles the country with a June 25th Nashville stop at Carl Black Chevy Woods Amphitheatre, and July 16th at Chicago’s Northerly Island. The one-day festival will return to New York’s Jones Beach Theatre on July 23rd, then head over to the Midwest for a September 25th show at Red Rocks. More information on ticketing is available here.

According to Gregg, “The idea was to put the Laid Back vibe on more than just the music. It had to be about food and drink too, and the people just loved it. So we’re coming back and taking it on the road!”

Earlier this month, Allman’s bandleader and guitarist Scott Sharrard revealed exciting plans for the future of GAB, including a new record and tour dates with ZZ Top. Read more here.
