Last weekend, a number of all-star musicians joined forces to pay tribute to the late great Otis Redding, two days after what would have been his 75th birthday. A true force for soul music, it’s no wonder that a Redding-themed celebration would draw the best and brightest, including performances from Andra Day, St. Paul & The Broken Bones and so many more.
When Getty Images published an album of photos from the event, which was held in Macon, GA, we couldn’t help but notice the presence of one Gregg Allman. Allman had cancelled tour dates due to an unspecified illness, but recently announced that he would be returning to the stage for his Laid Back Festival at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
The event was a black tie affair to respectfully tribute the late Redding, with members of his family in attendance. Redding’s hometown was Macon, GA, which also happens to be where the Allman Brothers Band got their start.
