On Thursday, Levon Helm Studios announced a Gregg Allman tribute concert dubbed “Playin’ Up A Storm: A Tribute To Gregg Allman at Levon Helm Studios,” which is set for Saturday, December 7th in Woodstock, NY. The upcoming event will feature some of Allman’s former collaborators and more.
Led by musical director Jay Collins, the tribute concert’s lineup features Robert Randolph, Amy Helm, Danny Louis (Gov’t Mule), former Gregg Allman Band guitarist/musical director Scott Sharrard, Bruce Katz, Chris Vitarello, Brett Bass, Tony Mason, and Moses Patrou.
This May marked two years since Gregg Allman’s passing. For decades, Allman was the center of the extended family affair that was the Allman Brothers Band. Following ABB’s last show in 2014, Allman spent as much time on the road with the Gregg Allman Band as possible—or as much as the doctors would allow—resulting in several heartbreaks and cancellations throughout 2016 as he continued to fight his battle with liver cancer. On May 27th, 2017, he took his last breath surrounded by family and friends in his Savannah home—marking the true end of the Allman Brothers Band, following the passing of drummer Butch Trucks.
A pre-sale for Barnburner members is currently underway now. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, September 20th at 12 p.m. (EST) here.
