Back on December 20th, 2021, a criminal mastermind entered a music store in a Toronto, Canada suburb and, armed only with his Blue Jays hat and super-baggy pants, quietly made off with an $8,000 guitar. Both the thief and his pants remain at large.

The York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau is now seeking public assistance apprehending the baggy bandit and his getaway driver.

“Investigators learned that on Tuesday, December 20, 2021, an unknown male suspect entered the store and stole a guitar by hiding it down his pants,” YRP noted when sharing images and surveillance footage of the sartorial heist. “He fled from the area in a vehicle being driven by a second male suspect. The guitar stolen was a Gibson Custom Shop 60th Anniversary ’59 Les Paul Standard electric guitar, valued at approximately $8,000. … Investigators are releasing images and video surveillance and are appealing for any information that may assist in the investigation.”

In the shared surveillance video, the suspect can be seen playing the stolen guitar in the shop before slowly sliding the neck down the leg of his pants and conceal the body under his jacket. Once the guitar is concealed, the audacious thief even grabs another guitar and briefly fiddles with it in an apparent attempt to play it cool and deflect attention.
