After the 15-year wait that was 2008’s Chinese Democracy, is it really possible that we could see a new Guns n’ Roses album in the near future? According to keyboardist Dizzy Reed, that answer is yes. Speaking to VH1’s Dave Basner, via Blabbermouth, Reed said: “There’s a lot of material that’s already done and I think it’s in the process of being finished and eventually we’ll pick out which songs need to come out with which other songs. So that’s in the works. Hopefully it will be out really soon.

Reed is the longest-running member of Guns n’ Roses, outside of Rose, since the official disbandment in 1997 (he joined the group in 1990). However, DJ Ashba, the group’s guitarist, also gave support to Reed’s claims in a recent interview with Legendary Rock Interviews, saying “We are planning on doing quite a bit of touring this coming year. The focus is getting in a studio and putting together what we all feel is the best GUNS N’ ROSES record. Lack of material is not an issue. We have tons of stuff.

Ashba went on to reveal that “Axl has two full albums that he has recorded. He has played me a bunch of songs off of that that are incredible! I can’t wait to get in and kind of dive into those as well. I’ve written tons of songs and demoed up a bunch of stuff. I think it is just a matter of getting in and sifting through the piles of material.

After a number of well-received performances, and what seems to be a fair amount of “new” material on the horizon, we might just see an album and more tour dates from Axl-led group yet. But, if history has taught us a lesson, it is to not hold your breath.
