Forecastle Festival in Louisville, KY was forced to evacuate last night due to hazardous weather conditions that began during Sam Smith’s headlining set. Extremely heavy winds and rain descended upon the festival grounds around 10:30 PM, causing the festival to tweet a warning:

MTV reported that “strong winds kicking up dust and sending trash swirling around. The area in front of the main stage was almost empty just minutes after the first alert, as banners on the stage were whipped around by strong winds and some vendor’s tents began to sway and threaten to buckle.”

Additionally, conditions on the Ohio River, where people have been known to pass time while listening to the festival, have been deemed unsafe, with abnormally high levels.

The festival will continue today with sets from My Morning Jacket, The War On Drugs, The Word, Sturgill Simpson, Shovels & Rope, Cherub and many more. Check out the daily schedules here.
