Los Angeles-based musicians Henry Solomon and Logan Kane—who fans may recognize thanks to their work as members of Thumpasaurus—have teamed up with progressive jazz drummer Louis Cole and keyboardist Dennis Hamm for an energizing new single, “Hits”.
Released on Tuesday (12/8), the high-energy, funk-meets-jazz instrumental acts as the lead single from the duo’s forthcoming studio project, Outside World 2, due out early next year on January 26th via Good Question. Outside World 2 follows Solomon and Kane’s 2018 Outside World album, and will also feature contributions from jazz drummer Benjamin Ring, guitarist Teis Semey, and keyboardist Paul Cornish.
The duo added in a statement with Tuesday’s release,
The improvised way that we play on the record speaks to the immediacy and lightning pace that information and content is shared and experienced these days. We’re all so used to seeing so many things being fired at us all the time in the digital world. The experience of being constantly online is where a lot of the rhythmic and harmonic density on the album comes from. That sort of light speed psychological energy level just feels like where we’re at all the time. Outside World is the arena in which we get to explore this with music in real time.
