More high-quality footage from The Grateful Dead’s 1976 tour stop at New York City’s Beacon Theatre has been unearthed, in the form of a soundcheck from the band’s June 14th show. As Jambase noted, this is the second video clip to surface from the soundcheck on Youtube, the first being a small snipit of “Not Fade Away.”

Here now for your enjoyment is a 17+ minute clip of the Dead running through “U.S. Blues,” “Not Fade Away’ and “Cold Rain & Snow.” Of particular note in this video is an interview with Dead members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart. Weir details the band’s dissolution two years prior to this interview, and ultimately, why they decided to get back together. They also talk about their mail order system for ticketing and the reason why they made the choice to play to smaller crowds on their first tour back in ’76. Take a look:
