The beloved J Dilla was taken from this Earth before his time, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy of music. While a number of posthumous releases have hit the market, one recorded in 2002, dubbed The Voice, has yet to see the light of day. That is, until now.
Due out on April 15th, The Voice is a vocal album from the late great J Dilla, originally recorded for MCA, who passed away in 2006, the unreleased album features beat contributions from Snoop Dogg, Bilal, Kokane, Frank and Dank, Nottz and Boogie, with production work from Pete Rock, Madlib, Hi-Tek, Supa Dave West, Bink!, House Shoes, Nottz, Karriem Riggins and more.

Rolling Stone premiered the first track from this one-of-a-kind album. Stream “The Introduction,” below:
Interestingly, Dilla estate director Eothen “Egon” Alapatt told Rolling Stone that The Diary is “the last record that he actually wanted out — i.e., he said, in his own words, this record should come out during his lifetime. The last one.”
We’re certainly excited to hear what this final Dilla release has to offer.
