Ja Rule released a new track titled “For Your Real Entertainment (FYRE)” on his Instagram page on Friday—an ode to his role (or alleged lack thereof) in the notorious Fyre Festival fiasco. He also announced a new release date for his album 12.Twelve.XII, which is due out on February 29th, 2020 after the original release date of December 12th, 2019 was delayed.

In response to being dismissed from a $100 million class-action lawsuit surrounding his involvement in the fantastic failure of Fyre Festival, the recently exonerated Ja Rule “treated” fans and critics to a new song, “FYRE”, which contains lyrics that some may find inflammatory—not dissimilar to If I Did It, the OJ Simpson book released years after his infamous trial:

The fest—the festival is on fire/We don’t need no water, make that motherfucker hotter/Hotter than the sun, but it wasn’t that/Show of hands if you got your money back/Just playing, I got sued for that/100 mil to be exact I know you lack/Empathy for the one that’s me

Ja Rule’s “FYRE” continues to provide commentary on the event throughout the song with lines like “In the people’s court, baby they’ll hang ya, like their ancestors,” and “full sabotage, it ain’t fraud.”

The rapper was dismissed from the lawsuit filed against festival organizer Billy McFarland, and others, in the Central District Court of California this past November. The judge denied the appeal to name the rapper despite evidence and multiple documentaries highlighting Ja Rule’s involvement with the festival.

Fyre Festival saw thousands of fans stranded in the Bahamas when organizers failed to disclose the deep-rooted issues plaguing the event’s plans and infrastructure. Attendees were forced to sleep in unfinished housing with substandard provisions as they attempted to get off the “private island” on which it was meant to be held. Headliners pulled out upon learning of the atrocious conditions.
