Jack Johnson has announced a live benefit album, Songs For Maui, to support those affected by the recent devastating fires on the Hawaiian island. He also announced an intimate benefit concert on September 18th at The Republik in Honolulu.

Set for digital release on September 15th, Songs For Maui includes ten tracks recorded live at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center’s Castle Theater during Johnson’s 2012 Hawaiian Islands tour and features Hawaii’s own Paula Fuga and John Cruz, who will join Johnson and his band for the concert on the 18th. All proceeds from the album and The Republik show will benefit fire relief efforts and help provide ongoing support for Maui.

In addition to the benefit album and concert, Johnson and his wife Kim, together with the Johnson Ohana Foundation, made donations to a number of organizations providing immediate disaster relief and food to impacted families, including Hawaii Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund, Maui United WayCommon Ground CollectiveMaui Food BankChef Hui, and Maui Hub.

“All our love is going to our friends and family on Maui right now,” Johnson said in a statement. “As we began to brainstorm ways we could support the community, we found tracks from an acoustic show from 2012 that Paula, John and I played at the MACC on Maui. While listening to the songs we thought back to the time we spent that spring, both on stage but also bonding with our Maui ‘ohana. We know it will be a long road ahead. We hope the positive energy from this show can carry on to help raise funds and support families in need. Aloha, Jack”

Tickets for Jack Johnson’s special Maui benefit concert will go on sale Friday, September 8th at 10 a.m. HST here, with a strict four-ticket limit per order.
