Indie groove freshlings Goose recently welcomed jam veterans Jake Cinninger and Joel Cummins of Umphrey’s McGee for a fiery collaboration at Resonance Music Festival, and now the band has shared pro-shot footage of their face-melting take on “Empress of Organos”.

The UM duo joined the Goose towards the end of the band’s fourth set of weekend. Having played two headlining sets on Friday, the band returned for two more on Saturday. Friday’s opening salvo took a lighthearted tone with a cover of Kenny LogginsCaddyshack theme “I’m Alright” and a radiant “Turn on your Love Light”, not to mention a show-stopping 30-minute “Arrow” jam. The fun had only begun, however, and it would culminate on Saturday with an incendiary Umph McGoose “Empress of Organos”.

From the first notes, the double lead guitar of Cinninger and Goose’s Rick Mitarotonda made for an explosive combination. Cummins meanwhile joined multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach on keys, creating a double duo plus the three-man rhythm section of Ben Atkind (drums), Jeff Arevalo (percussion), Trevor Weekz (bass). The septet charted an intense, 20-minute jam, navigating fierce peaks and composed sections with nimble precision.
