Classic rock group Electric Light Orchestra are planning a new album and tour in 2015, according to the group’s founder, Jeff Lynne. Lynne led the band to success from 1971-1986, penning 27 Top 40 tracks in that era. Since that era, however, ELO has only released one album since 1986, 2001’s Zoom. A tour surrounding the album was cancelled.

Recently, Lynne revived the ELO name for a 50,000-person concert in Hyde Park in London, playing classics like “Livin’ Thing” and “Telephone Line.” While only one former member of ELO, Richard Tandy, performed, Lynne is the true creative driving force for the band.

In an interview with Billboard, Lynne said, “I had so much [fun] in Hyde Park with 50,000 people, where I just played in September, first time I’ve played in 28 years it was fantastic and I loved every minute, so I’m definitely gonna come here and play.”

Shortly thereafter, in a speech given at the Classic Rock Honors in Los Angeles, Lynne said, “I’m working on a new album and that’ll be involved in the new times when we play.”

We look forward to hearing what ELO may have to offer in 2015.
