There’s something about a beautiful setting that magnifies the power of music. A big stage with elaborate production can get your heart pumping, to be sure, but sometimes all it takes is quiet moment with a view and a simple song to take your breath away. In a video posted this week, Jennifer Hartswick and Lyle Divinsky embody that notion with a mellow yet resounding rendition of John Prine‘s “Angel From Montgomery” performed as a postcard-worthy Croatian sunset casts the scenery behind them in smoldering orange hues.

The video was captured in Pula, a seafront city on the tip of Croatia’s Istrian Peninsula. As Hartswick explained to Live For Live Music, “Lyle and I were in Croatia as a part of an entrepreneurial event on the island of Obanjan and decided to stay an extra week and do some exploring.”

After performing with Nick CassarinoNikki GlaspieDane FarnsworthEric Vogel, and Zach Velmer during the five-day event, hosted by the Baby Bathwater Institute, Divinsky and Hartswick made their way around Croatia, then hopped on a ferry to Venice, Italy. “While we were in Pula,” Lyle added, “our Airbnb had this perfect west-facing patio overlooking the Adriatic Sea, so we naturally had to make some music”—and, of course, sample some Croatian wine.
