Jennifer Hartswick shows off her considerable talents as both a vocalist and a trumpet player on “You Can’t Take It Back”, her new single with musical partner Nick Cassarino. The new track, which is slated to appear on the pair’s forthcoming album Nexus, finds the Trey Anastasio Band member and the Nth Power frontman teaming up with renowned jazz bassist Christian McBride.
“You Can’t Take It Back” was released along with a music video that showcases Hartswick and Cassarino doing what they do best: making beautiful music in the studio and on the stage. The lovely tune keeps its cards close for the first few minutes before exploding into a joyful sound that belies its melancholy lyrics. Suffice to say, this treat has us excited for the full record, which is due out later this year.
Hartswick and Cassarino will embark on a spring tour later this month that is slated to bring them through parts of the Midwest and East Coast before wrapping up with a pair of dates on the West Coast at the end of may. Give their new single below:
