During this past weekend’s episode of A Prairie Home Companion, Jim James made an appearance as one of this week’s special guests along with fellow musician Aimee Mann and comedian Hari Kondabolu. The My Morning Jacket frontman first joined host Chris Thile in the middle of the show, which was taped at St. Paul, Minnesota’s Fitzgerald Theatre, where the musician performed solo renditions of New Multitudes’ “Changing World” and Quincy Jones’ “Everything Must Change.” James later reemerged half an hour later for an interview segment before additional solo performances of James’ “Here In Spirit” and My Morning Jacket’s “Wonderful.” To close out the show, Thile, James, Sara WatkinsRichard Dworsky, and The Show Band came together to cover Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” as a tribute to the late Chris Cornell, who unexpected passing last week has made waves across the music community.
