The New Mastersounds were one of the bands set to perform at Widespread Panic’s four-night musical excursion, Panic En La Playa, in Riviera Maya, Mexico this week. However, Mastersounds guitar player Eddie Roberts ran into some trouble last week when he injured himself in a skiing accident, forcing him to miss his first show in 25 years. Read Roberts’ message to his Facebook followers below:

Looking to help out the band in a tough spot, Eric Krasno of Soulive and Lettuce stepped up and filled in for Roberts during the Mastersounds’ late night set. Krasno is scheduled to appear with the Playa All-Stars alongside George Porter, Jr., Ivan Neville, Col. Bruce Hampton, Randall Bramblett, Nikki Glaspie and Jennifer Hartswick tonight and Friday night for late night sets.

In addition, WSP’s Jimmy Herring joined in for takes on The Rolling Stones “Gimme Shelter,” Kool & The Gang’s “Let The Music Take Your Mind” as well as the Average White Band’s “Pick Up The Pieces.”
