It’s almost hard to believe, but there is a life outside of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead for beloved drummer Joe Russo. The percussive magician has consistently worked his magic in a number of projects, even making his television debut in the backing band of Craig Finn. On April 21st, Russo will make his Brooklyn Bowl debut with another project, backing Chris Harford’s Band of Changes.

Joining Russo will be Ween bassist Dave Dreiwitz in support of Harford and his original music. True to its name, the Band of Changes has something of a revolving door policy, opening things up for new interpretations of the songs each time. To describe Harford’s sound, The New Yorker writes “…A singer, guitarist, and songwriter who rose through the local club scene in the nineteen-eighties, Harford operates in the free zone outside rock’s usual categories. He has a foot in country, a hand in seventies rock, a toe in folk, a finger in post-punk. With his gruff but plaintive voice and his fondness for muddied-up guitars, he sometimes recalls Neil Young.”
