Today, the fan-favorite Grateful Dead-inspired tribute act Joe Russo’s Almost Dead has released the 75th installment of their series, Taper Thursday. Titled the “#BrooklynLove Edition x 2,” the newly released soundboard captures the band’s second night (March 9th, 2018) of their three-night Brooklyn Bowl run in New York City earlier in the spring.

Hot off the band’s run opener, which saw the group pay tribute to the Grateful Dead keyboardist Ron “Pigpen” McKernan on the 45th anniversary of his death and International Women’s Day, on their Friday performance, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead offered up a fiery performance chock full of debuts and frequent teases. Across the night, the group debuted a cover of Junior Parker‘s “Next Time You See Me”, “Peggy-O”, and the Bobby and Shirley Womack classic “It’s All Over Now”.

The band’s rendition of Junior Parker’s “Next Time You See Me” closed out the band’s jam-heavy five-song first set, which also included takes on “Eyes Of The World”, “Dancing In The Streets”, “The Music Never Stopped”, and “Tennessee Jed”. Furthermore, the Friday performance of “Next Time You See Me” continued the band’s Thursday night tribute to Pigpen—the original Grateful Dead keyboardist often sang the tune during the band’s early years.

In the second set, the band debuted the fan-favorite ballad “Peggy-O”. Surprisingly, the song had never been performed by Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, though is a welcome addition to the group’s catalog. Guitarist Tom Hamilton perfectly carried the vocals for the heartfelt ballad before a jam led into the set-closing rendition of “Playing In The Band”. Coming back for encore, the group offered their third and final debut of the night: a Tom Hamilton-sung rendition of the Bobby and Shirley Womack classic “It’s All Over Now” (which was an early hit for the Rolling Stones in 1964).
