Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will not perform as planned at Suwannee Hulaween, the band announced on Thursday. In place of the Grateful Dead-inspired act, prog-jam favorites Umphrey’s McGee will play two sets on Thursday, October 28th.
In a post to the band’s Facebook page, JRAD stated that, “Due to circumstances beyond our control, we regret to inform you that Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will not be making it to Suwannee Hulaween this year for their scheduled performance.” Instead, Umphrey’s McGee, a veteran Suwannee band not included on the finalized lineup released in June, will fill in with a two-set performance to close down the Amphitheater Stage on Thursday.
“Thank you for your understanding & support as we all keep navigating our way together through these continually complicated times,” JRAD wrote on social media.
In addition to Umphrey’s McGee and three nights of host band The String Cheese Incident, the eighth edition of Hulaween will feature headliners Skrillex, My Morning Jacket, Leon Bridges, Khruangbin, Zeds Dead (Deadbeats Takeover), and Greensky Bluegrass.

This comes as the latest in an ongoing string of cancellations and postponements for the band, comprised of Joe Russo, Marco Benevento, Tom Hamilton, Scott Metzger, and Dave Dreiwitz. Over the summer, the band postponed a number of indoor shows, including planned concerts in Wisconsin and Missouri, and canceled shows in Michigan and New Orleans, the latter of which were set to coincide with Jazz Fest which was also pushed to 2022.
Joe Russo’s Almost Dead is still slated to perform in Los Angeles, CA (10/22) and Stanford, CA (10/23) before closing out the year with a newly announced show in Denver, CO (12/3). For tickets and a full list of tour dates visit the band’s website.
