Just a few weeks ago, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead set up shop at the incredible Brooklyn Bowl for three sold-out nights of Grateful mayhem. Considering the run concluded with Peter Shapiro knighting the band, it’s safe to say that these shows were indeed full of mayhem, jam-packed with great music and good times.
Among the many highlights was an extended sit-in featuring the Antibalas horn section members, including Stuart Bogie, Martin Perna, Eric Biondo and Ray Mason. Teaming up for the first time since January 1st at The Capitol Theatre, the Almost Dead + horns joined the show right from the beginning, adding some brass flare to an opening jam that found its way into the Otis Redding classic, “Hard To Handle.”
